It may have been gone for a while, but I have just noticed that the Top 40 isn't there...what happened? Has it moved to another part of the city, or just pulled down the shutters?

Looking For a Journal.
There's this guy, who posts chat conversations (imaginary) with Bush, Kerry, etc... I think he's asian, don't know for sure. But he has one of the most popular journals on livejournal.
Anyone know who this guy is?

The edition of the Top 40 list that I just posted is the first one to use CSS2 style sheets. Unfortunately, I've also just discovered that Microsoft Internet Explorer doesn't seem to handle some of the finer points of CSS2 very well (I guess I should cut MS some slack since the spec is only six years old). Either that or I don't understand CSS2 very well yet myself. The page looks fine in Mozilla and its ilk, though. In any case, know that I'm aware of the problem.

I apologize for the extended hiatus. I am in the midst of a move. I hope no one is having a seizure from a Top 40 withdrawal or anything. Current Mood: stressed

Now, because of entries in my journal as well as community journals I've been contacted by a radio editor/anchor of CNN radio and by an independent DVD publishing company in Paris. Has anyone else received emails from famous people because of livejournal?

Those of you who recently checked on the top 40 list only to find it missing were probably just as surprised as I was. My hosting company recently changed hands, so I've been expecting some kind of server switchover, but I didn't get any advance notice of exactly when they'd be doing it. So now I have to figure out how to get my Web site straightened out again.
In the meantime, I'll post a copy of the latest list here to tide you all over.

Geekers makes her debut...
Wow, now I'm one of the few, the proud, the... uhhh... yeah. I'm in the Top 40. How... quaint.
Just stopping by
on a snowy evening
(damnit, how did Robert Frost get in?) to say
I love you
(Stevie Wonder, you asshole, OUT!) hello. Yeah, that's it... HELLO! :}

*taps the microphone*
I don't mean to be rude, but the Top 40
hasn't been updated for two weeks and a day now - the last update was dated 15th June. Please might we have a status report on the Top 40 project? I've been enjoying it so far and hope it continues further. :-) Current Mood: curious

4 or 8 weeks?
Did anyone else notice that the majority of names on the top 40 list have been there for either 4 or 8 weeks. The 8 weeks I can understand because that's when it started, but the 4 kinda blows my mind. From what I remember, google does a big index change every month... could this be the effect?

I was #12 for the first 2 or 3 weeks this thing was going, and I've been stuck at #29 for the last 5 weeks or so. I can't complain, though. It's kinda nice to be in the Top 40 out of 1,104,975 journals.
So hello to everyone else on the list. If someone knows a bit more specifically, HOW I'm in the top 40, I'd love to know what I've been doing right. =)
Top 40, bonan matenon, gesinjoroj
I was sitting on a train, using the WAP client on my phone when jiggery_pokery
had posted a message mentioning that someone else he knew had reached the Top 40. This amazed me, because I thought the Top 40 was likely to be populated by LJ stars such as brad
. #30 obviously isn't high enough to generate interest, as the number of comments I am receiving in my journal is still strikingly low. I'm sure there is something not quite right with the algorithm - staying at #30 for three weeks in a row seems rather unlikely.

Presumably my LJ is not even close to the top 40; I just think it's cool.
Does such a thing as an archive of the first four editions of the top 40 exist? We can back-create issue five from issue six, but the first four would be harder to reconstruct.
It would be a shame to be wondering about this when issue 500 of the Top 40 comes out in 2013... :-) Current Mood: completist
Welcome to the Top 40!
Being #12 on the Top 40 list, I'd like to welcome you all to the community. I've strived to make the style for this community as boring and bland as possible to make it feel more like the Top 40 page. I hope everyone feels at home.
I remember when I first read about the Top 40 and I was at a seminar in Boston and I suddenly screamed "Woohoo!" and everyone looked me weird. Anyway, where were you when you noticed that you were in the Top 40?
